This cable is a suitable replacement for my bmw e39 2001 525i OEM brake cable. How it differs: The handbrake screw is not as long as the OEM bmw cable and the rubber boot that covers the cable going into the back of the wheel hub is not part of the Pex cable (You may want to save this rubber boot as well as rubber grommets on cable bracket from OEM cable also). DIY install suggestions: 1) keep the rubber grommets that hold the cable into the brackets cause you'll need those to keep cable from being loose and 2) make sure the front aluminum fitting on the new cable covering (where cable enters interior of car from underside) is inserted fully into that hole. Seeing to make sure the cable is fully seated to enter the interior of the car is the hardest part of installation(on a e39 bmw).
