Lincoln was founded in 1917 by Henry M. Leland; one of the former founders of Cadillac. The Lincoln Motor Company was developed to build Liberty aircraft engines. As with many automobile companies in this era, Lincoln’s resources were dedicated to production of Lincoln parts to be used towards the war effort. After WW1, the company's factories were modified to manufacture luxury automobiles and Lincoln parts. It would be the foundation of a company that remains successful to this day. Lincoln is currently an American luxury automobile brand making Lincoln parts and cars operated under the Ford Motor Company.
Ford bought Lincoln in 1922 after the company suffered financial trouble. Ford still remains as the parent company to this day, and manufactures cars and Lincoln parts under the Lincoln division. Lincoln quickly became one of America's top selling luxury brands alongside Cadillac and Duesenberg. In 1927, Lincoln adopted the greyhound as their emblem, which was later replaced with the diamond that is currently in use on Lincoln parts and luxury cars.
With the 1936 model year, Lincoln introduced the Lincoln Zephyr, which was manufactured from Lincoln parts to create a sporty design. The Zephr and Lincoln parts were produced from 1936 until WWII stopped production in early 1942. From the 1939 Zephyr, Edsel Ford began his efforts on Lincoln parts to create the Lincoln Continental, which eventually became the most important car made by Lincoln. The Continental proved popular and plans were made to sell it.
The 1950s brought many dramatic changes to Lincoln. At the time, there were new advancements in all Lincoln parts. Power steering, power brakes, power windows, wraparound windshields, tubeless tires and automatic seats started with the Lincoln Premier. The 1950s also prompted Lincoln's chief stylist to start thinking of Lincoln parts ideas for the future. In turn, the Continental received a complete overhaul. The Continental Mark II became the new look of Lincoln and was one of the most beautiful and influential cars of the decade.
These are exciting times for Lincoln and its customers; innovation in new Lincoln parts is leading to increasingly sophisticated, new vehicles featuring the latest in technology. From Lincoln parts that enable hands-free amenities and "Active Comfort" seats that contour to the body to available articulating headlamps that turn with your steering wheel angle and speed, Lincoln is creating a new vision. Leading the way is the striking 2009 Lincoln MKS, a vehicle which utilizes the ultimate technology in its Lincoln parts such as voice activated SYNC System, a turn-by-turn voice-activated Navigation System with SIRIUS Travel Link, and industry exclusive invisible next generation exterior keypad. Taking versatility a step higher is the Lincoln MKX crossover, featuring abundant passenger room Lincoln parts and configurable cargo space. Lincoln MKZ is creating plenty of buzz with its award-winning performance Lincoln parts and accommodating, ultra quiet environment.
