intake manifold works great. The incorporation of the bypass hose as part of the manifold is a great idea and eliminated problems installing the hose.I only wish all the bolts had been permanently attached to the manifold. It would make installation much easier. I am satisfied with the manifold as a whole.

Just installed this on my 04 Tahoe, let me set the record straight on fitment compared to oem. Will work just fine, they relocated the pcv hose to externally routed along the top of intake and the map sensor to the rear of the manifold, now secured with a bolt. For my year 5.3, I left one hose nipple plugged on passenger side that wasn't needed and left the block off plate behind throttle body in place. Was skeptical at first but it has worked fine for the last 500 miles. I am giving it 4 stars because of the design change in hardware. The 10 mounting screws the in oem manifold are shouldered like valve cover bolts to prevent over tightening or stripping out. In the Dorman unit you are provided regular grade 5 bolts to mount with, which are fine as long as you tighten in correct sequence and to the correct torque spec. Secondly, all mounting hardware for fuel rail, emissions solenoid, wiring harness bracket, and engine cover on the oem manifold have a metal sleeve made into...

This cured a coolant leak on my 94 LeSabre with a 3800 V6 Series 1. The leak was where the throttle body met the original manifold- one original gasket had failed. Had I known this common problem was only this gasket, I would have just purchased a gasket set for 1/3 the cost and a quite a bit of time working on the car. With that said, should you purchase this item, as preventative maintenance, take the time to replace your injector O-rings [you will have to remove the injectors and fuel rail to install this item] and clean your throttle body and MAF sensor. Also a good time to do a drain/fill of your coolant and replace any old radiator or vacuum hoses too. Maybe even a thermostat while you're in there since you'll have to drain your coolant to do the manifold replacement. The new plastic upper manifold has torque specs printed in to it- follow these torque specs and not what is in a Chilton's or Haynes manual as the manual's torque specs are too low.

Manifold blew up driving home from work, antifreeze everywhere. Pulled it apart to find out that the corner broke on the front passanger side. Seems to be a common issue with these with high mileage. I ordered this part based on the reviews and I am very pleased. Didn't take long to install and came with good instructions. Make sure you put the o-ring on the PVC connector :). I changed the plugs while it was apart and it runs better now with more power and sounds better as well. Dorman fixed the issue I had with the old one in this new product and I don't expect to have to replace this part again. I'm very pleased with the results. All bolts and gaskets(already installed) included along with a new stat.

Worked like a champ. Great price and great delivery.$200 for the parts and $250 for the instillation. At 200K most Chevy 5.3's will need new gasket set($75)so you might as well do the knock sensor and whole manifold,as it may be warped. The wonders of 10% Ethanol gasoline.

The stock plastic intake on my 2000 Mustang GT finally cracked right where the upper radiator hose attaches to the manifold. I needed an intake fast to get my car back on the road so I ordered the Dorman 615-175 manifold.I've read good and bad things about the Dorman VS the Ford replacement. Folks on several Mustang forums say the Dorman has smaller runners than the Ford & that the performance isn't as good. Well, I'm here to tell you the performance on a mostly stock 4.6 with the Dorman intake is noticeably BETTER than with the Ford intake! The slightly smaller runners actually increase the velocity of the incoming air which gives a very noticeable increase in performance in the low to mid RPM range with no noticeable ill effect at high RPM all the way to redline. On a car with performance camshafts & reworked heads the Dorman is probably not the best choice, but if you have the stock cams and heads you WILL feel a noticeable increase in torque...

If you need to replace your melted intake plenum, use this one. This Dorman item comes with the required gaskets, and also includes a new pcv valve. The price is MUCH lower than any local auto parts store ($130) for the same item. If you plan on swapping this part yourself I would HIGHLY recommend replacing the following items as well:Lower intake manifold gaskets. The factory LIM gasket is made from plastic, it cracks and allows coolant into the combustion chamber. If enough gets in your engine will hydrolock. Every Series 2 3800 engine I have taken apart had cracks in this gasket.Valve cover gaskets. These gaskets leak, when they leak oil comes in contact with the exhaust manifold. Both gaskets run around $12 and are easy to swap when doing the Intake plenum/LIM gasket.Coolant bypass elbows. These are made of plastic and fall apart when removing the Lower Intake Manifold. They are available in the help section of your local auto parts store for...

A great OE solution! As Advertised! I bought this Dorman Intake Manifold for our older Mercury Grand Marquis at a significant cost savings when compared to our local auto parts store (same brand, same part number). My mechanic had no problems with the installation and verfied it was a great fit, great product. Very happy with the form, fit and function.

OK, full disclosure here: I used to work for a GM dealer and have seen MANY of this type of intake installed. At the dealership, we had all the parts on hand (GM doesn't have a 'package' they use for the warranty work, you replace what is messed up and thats all), but the Dorman intake has all the 'extras' that allow you to do the FULL job properly (manifold, gaskets, PCV valve, fittings, fuel injector o-rings, EGR nozzles). This job probably isn't for an inexperienced backyard mechanic, but its not that hard to do in an afternoon. Plan to do an oil change AFTER this job, just in case you get some coolant leakage into the crankcase (not VERY likely, but not that unusual, either).Make sure you don't forget to change out the EGR nozzle that anchors into the lower intake manifold; the smaller tube allows more airflow around the nozzle, cooling it and reducing the heat exposure to the gasket between the upper and lower manifolds (main cause of failure and leakage, based on...

Best price as new. Too much time involded to risk using anything used. Took me about 6 hours taking old intake off, and another 6 to put it on. Did it outside in the cold.Goto [...] To know what you'er getting into. It's on a 97, mine was a 2001 police Crown Vic. A little different.Biggest problem was a backside brace on driver side, bolts in from firewall, bolts go in by firewall toward front, no way to get to. Cut brace in half; had to reuse it, one of the bolts (torque # 3,) holds the intake on. And the (torque # 7,) bolt is a B%#@% just guessed with a wrench on it's torque.Other than the cold, and guessing which alternator bracket to use, I only used one, directions doesn't state one or the other, or that you use only one of the 2 provided,)it fired right up, no leaks.Hint: take close photos of every item you unhook, can save ya a lot of guessing. I didn't take everything apart. the throttle body and the intake, used a bunggy cord and held...

The manifold featured has an improved design that is visible upon comparison. The leak suffered by heat warpage of the oem manifold will be less likely, should the same event occur. Good solution for a good price!

The part was packaged well and shipped quickly. The manifold was exactly what I needed to repair the engine. It fit perfectly and had all the necessary parts in the box. The only item missing was the specification sheet for tightening the bolts on the manifold. Although not really a problem, I just surfed over to dorman's web site and found what I needed. So if you have a leaking intake manifold on your 3800V6 engine, this part will do the trick.

I bought this for my 96 Lincoln after I found out that my intake manifold cracked and it was past the deadline for the class action settlement from Ford. There are great instructions on the internet for the installation and it took about 7 hours from start to finish. The only problem was that one of the two temperature sensors would not come out of the old manifold and had to be replaced. The most difficult part of the installation was cleaning the mating surfaces. So far everything has worked fine.
