The curiosity of one would always ask him or her; what happens when we change the gear or what is the meaning of the first gear or the second gear or why does the car become noisy giving a grinding sound if we don’t change the gear at the right speed or why do some cars don’t have the gear and the clutch pedal?
The cars with manual transmission parts are the ones that have the clutch pedal and the gear box. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the engine and the manual transmission parts get disconnected. In this condition the engine may continue to run while the car is standing still whereas when the clutch is not pressed the car will vibrate and the engine will stop running if the car is standing still.
The manual transmission parts comprise of shafts, gears, layshaft, collar and dog-teeth. The layshaft derives its power from the engine and further distributes it into the shafts and gears. Whenever one places a wrong gear, the grinding sound comes from the dog teeth attempting to fit into the wrong conjugate. Longer durations of this can also result in breakage of parts i.e. the gear or the dog-teeth.
Another additional gear is present in the manual transmission parts and that is the reverse gear which when engaged makes the car go in reverse. If reverse gear is engaged while going forward, it results in lot of shrilling sound by the dog-teeth and can also result in breakage of the gear. Normally the cars come in five-speed manual transmission. As the speed increases, so are the gears changed towards the larger number. The car’s maximum speed is achieved on its maximum gear.
The manual transmission parts also require a lubricant which lessens the friction between the shafts and the gears and when the gear shifting becomes difficult, then it is the time to change the gear oil. Manual transmission parts give you more control over your car and let you decide what’s best for the car.
