Allowed me to make a simple repair vs. replacing the whole fuel pump. Great video on youtube to make the repair. Took about 6 hours total time. My skill level is about a 5 out of 10 so it could be done faster.

Tells me to go get gas when its low. How does a little inexpensive item like this fail. Had to remove gastank to install. Glad my automaker doesn't build anything that needs to be reliable......like a plane or rocket.

Installation was a breeze. What took the longest was unfastening the electrical connectors. GM's engineers love to complicate simple things. As previous reviews have mentioned, don't bother trying to use the new, badly fitting, gasket that comes with the sensor. Just clean up the old one, put a little silicone grease or vaseline on it and you're good to go. Greasing the the lock ring before re-installation helps too.

A new GM OEM sender is over $250. This was packaged well and delivered quickly by AutoPartsWAY for a fraction of the cost. Direct replacement part, no modifications needed. Comes with the pump module o-ring that you will need to replace that seals the module to the tank. Do yourself a favor: If you don't have the special wrench for the lock ring that secures the module to the tank, buy or borrow it. Trying to break it loose on an older vehicle using a brass punch and hammer was a waste of time and I risked punching a hole in the fuel tank. Finally gave up and borrowed the special wrench and I had the old pump out in no time. If I would have had the special tool from the get-go, I would have had the job done in 45 minutes max start to finish (replaced sender in 2001 Buick LeSabre. It has an access panel in the trunk so no need to remove the fuel tank). Fuel gauge back to normal after sender replaced. I would gladly purchase again.

I bought this for my 2003 Olds Aurora to correct a problem with my gas gauge wandering. This is an exact fit part to replace a worn sender or leaky float. No more looking for something "close" and having to swap the old float & arm on to the new resistor element! This needs to come with an instruction sheet but it doesn't. Some tips:Use penetrating oil on the retaining ring tabs. The retaining ring is a PITA to remove--what worked best for me was to use an air chisel with a notched tool attached. Start slow with the tool adjusted so it barely impacts & increase if needed. Engage the chisel notch on one of the ring shoulders (not the slot itself) and see if that will walk the ring off. Mine got part way & stopped. I was then able to stick a pointed tool in the end of the slot that had opened up and used the chisel to hammer that pointed tool--focusing the impacts where they could the most good.I didn't see any obvious catches on the...

This GM part went bad in my Silverado with just 35K miles. This Dorman replacement looks almost identical to the original GM part but the metal sensor tabs and contact board (which is what goes bad) look to be of better construction than the factory part. I have read stories of people replacing this part 2-3 times over the life of the GM vehicle. So far, 2K miles and this Dorman part is working as it should and at half the cost of the AC Delco part which is probably the same part just packaged for GM. NOTE: You will need to purchase a special tool to remove the compression ring that holds the fuel sending unit in the tank, it can not be removed with normal hand tools!

I was very pleased with this fuel sensor. I'm not sure if it's OEM or aftermarket, but to me it appears to be made better than the original. My 07 Malibu had the sparatic fuel gauge that would rarely come on, but would always set off the check engine light (no matter how often I cleared the codes). The sparatic fuel gauge didn't bother me, but when it came time to smog the car, I couldn't pass due to the check engine light. I couldn't find a shop that would change just this fuel sensor, they all insisted on replacing the whole pump and wanted to charge around $1000. This did the trick, fuel gauge works accurately and no check engine light. This isn't the easiest repair to make and I would definitely suggest you have a second person around to assist. Be sure to have the repair manual around for guidance, also there's a very detailed youtube video on replacing this part on a Malibu.

this was great. fixed my fuel gauge. not the easiest install because you have to remove the fuel tank. broke a few clips on the fuel line inside the tank and now I have a emisions code. but its just the EVAP system. car runs.

I learned that I could get to this sending unit behind the rear seat of my car without having to drop the fuel tank. It is constructed just like the OEM version, including the proper wiring connectors. The only problem I had was that the new gasket was too thick to be able to be put into place, at least in the slightly awkward position I was working in between the rear seat and the trunk. But the old gasket worked just fine. I would have done this job sooner if I had known how easy it would be.

Tihs fit the fuel pump exactly and I was able to install it in 5 minutes after I removed the fuel tank.

Saved about $500 replacing just a bad fuel level sensor instead of the whole fuel pump. Once the pump was out it was easy to replace the sensor.
